Composer and Mexican guitarist, also outstanding arreglista of Mexican folk music. Their compositions are difficult to classify within a style because it approaches contemporary language, impresionismo and romanticism. At the present time the most representative figure of the classic guitar in Mexico is considered. Account with than 200 compositions made more for different instrumental combinations, being its greater contribution to the guitar. Several of their works have been interpreted in festivales national and international, and published by important publications like Guitar the International (England), Gendal Guitar (Japan), Soundboard (EU) and important publishers of music. Its discografía: Mexican guitar, the guitar in the world, terceto of guitars of the City of Mexico, Full moon, magical Mexico and crystal guitar, considered this last one as its better disc being outstanding by the international critic. Also its pedagogical work has been published in its method "Guitar" publishing Didactic America World. Its name appears in the encyclopedia of Mexico, Dictionary of composers of Mexico, 50 years of music of the palace of Beautiful Arts, Work Catalogue for Guitar of Mexican Composers.

Its music has been executed in Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Yugoslavia, Russia, Canada, the United States, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Martinico, Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, Uruguay, Chile, Germany, Japan and Colombia.

The Manuel teacher Maria Ponce was pianista and composer and is considered like the most important precursor of the Mexican musical nationalism, introduced in Mexico the music of Debussy, then stranger and who was revolutionizing music in Europe. The most important period of its studies of composition was in Paris with Paul Dukas in where it had like companions from studies to great composers like Joaquin Rodrigo to mention some. When he was masterful of piano in the National Conservatory of Music of the city of Mexico, one of its students was Carlos Chávez. Ponce enriched of important way the repertoire of the guitar, this thanks to the great friendship that he had with the legendary guitarist Andrés Segovia who asked for compositions to him, writing several preludes, sonatas and the Concert of the South for guitar and orchestra to mention some, which are important works for the repertoire of the classic guitar.
